Culture Tourist participated at ICARUS Croatia Days: Archives – Borders, Identities, Reflections (March 2021)
Unfortunately, with the COVID-19 pandemic, we can’t participate in events and conferences as much as we used to. But, we’re lucky there are still some fantastic international online events to meet with our colleagues and learn about some great examples of cultural heritage interpretation projects.
One of them was the International ICARUS Days, where our founder, Tea Gudek Šnajdar, participated as one of the speakers.
ICARUS initiative mainly promotes great examples and encourages improvement in the heritage presentation in the archives. They are doing that by managing different international projects, connecting diverse cultural institutions, and organising these kinds of conferences to show some of the best practices.
To show one of our good examples of digital content creating in the cultural sector, we shared one of Culture Tourist’s projects at the conference, too.
We presented the project done within the partnership with Visit Flanders on their ‘Van Eyck Was Here’ programs. The goal of the collaboration was to promote the ‘Jan van Eyck. An Optical Revolution’ exhibition organised at MSK Ghent in February 2020. However, since the exhibition was soon unexpectedly closed due to the pandemic, we focused on creating interesting virtual content for people that didn’t have a chance to visit that iconic exhibition.
During the ICARUS Croatia Days, we showcased some of the virtual content created. It included the Jan van Eyck video, an article with a virtual museum visit, together with some interactive content we shared on our social media channels.
Many thanks to Ms Vlatka Lemić for an invite, and we hope we’ll have a chance to share our projects at more similar events in future, as well.
Hopefully, this time in person rather than online.
